Why are nitrogenous fertilizers not added in the soil which leguminous plants grow?

Nitrogenous fertiliser is not added in soil in which leguminous plants are grown because the nitrogen fixing bacteria reside in the root nodules of the leguminous plants. These bacteria convert atmospheric nitrogen into soluble nitrogenous compounds.
