The most DANGEROUS pollution we make is currently CO2 which we emit in copious amounts and which can and will make the entire planet unsuitable to support human civilization while even a nuclear meltdown like Chernobyl can only affect a limited area.
The other danger of the CO2 is that we have dubious and puissant economic reasons to continue to emit it, partly because we are human and stupidly use money for which we have no definition but mostly because we have a very limited ability to work through problems that last more than a single human’s lifetime. So we aren’t stopping or trying to contain the pollution.
The danger in a poison you recognize is far less than one that you do not understand as dangerous.
