Why are oxygen cylinders used by mountaineers, miners and deep sea divers?

As the altitude increases the atmosphere becomes thinner and also amount of oxygen at high altitudes is less compared to the amount of oxygen required for us. Thus oxygen cylinders are used by mountaineers, miners and deep sea divers..
