Why are plateaus called the storehouse of minerals

The Peninsular plateau is called a storehouse of minerals because large deposits of minerals are found here. Iron ore, manganese, and mica are abundant in the Chhota Nagpur plateau. Gold, diamond and several precious metals are found abundantly in the Golconda area.
