Why are political parties important in democracy?

Because if there don't exist different political parties to criticize the ruling parties,the democracy will not remain democracy any more.I mean,it would become tyranny where there's no one to stand against the decisions of one that's in power.

Democratic parties create a choice among the citizens of the country. If there would be no democratic party there would be no choice and the system will be known as dictatorship with a single leadership.
