The things normally available at the ration shops are stapled food such as rice, kerosene, sugar etc. Ration shops are important for providing essential things at feasible prices for everybody and particularly for the groups who are considered as below the poverty line (BPL). The government provides 5 kg of subsidized grains to every person per month with the help of these ration shops, recognized as the public distribution system (PDS).
