On a large scale, ammonia is prepared via the Haber process:

N2(g)+3H2(g)⟶2NH3(g)ΔfH∘=−46.1 kJ⋅mol−1NX2(g)+3HX2(g)⟶2NHX3(g)ΔfH∘=−46.1 kJ⋅mol−1

The optimum conditions for the productions of ammonia are a pressure of 200 atm200 atm and a temperature of about 700 K700 K.

The process obviously is exothermic and 700 K700 K is, by no means, a low temperature. Shouldn't the temperature be much lower for optimum production of ammonia?
