Human beings live in an ecosystem, and depend on certain natural resources for survival, like water, air and food from plants.
It is the indiscriminate use of resources, and the burgeoning population which is creating an imbalance. The resources are not sufficient to suffice for the entire human and animal population. Humans, being superior in intelligence and strength, use power in an unethical manner, to destroy the ecosystem around them.
Environmental awareness is being created, but not followed seriously. It does not affect the next 10 years of your life, so why should you bother? Fylfilment of immediate needs is on priority. We are paying through global warming, for not planting trees. There are stories about certain glaciers in Siberia melting due to global warming, which will release the organisms responsible for certain extinct diseases like small pox, plague and cholera.
It is the short-term, myopic thinking and selfish behavior that disturbs the balance of nature.
