aquatic plants are the plants which stay on water ,in water or deep inside water.roots are parts of plants which absorb water for a plant. aquatic plants do not need long roots  because water is easily available for aquatic plants

The reason for the question is given below -

•Aquatic plants are the plants that grow in water.

•Roots of the plants are the part of plant, which exists at its lower end.

•Soil or land plants have longer roots, because apart from anchorage their function is to absorb water and nutrients from soil.

•Due to depletion of water, roots have to grow longer for penetration.

•This is not the case with aquatic plants, beacuse their main function is only anchorage.

•Since they remain submerged in water, or in contact of water, absorption of water and nutrients is done by part of plants other than roots.

•Hence, they have reduced root size.
