You need fuel oxygen and heat for fire. Remove the fuel the fire goes out, remove the oxygen LIKE BY SMOTHERING IT WITH SAND and it goes out. Using water to put out a fire works by smothering it and cooling it down. ... Best is to keep a fire extinguisher rated for flammable liquids handy in the kitchen area.....
