dead cells have little protoplasm and more membrane so the membrane makes the cell rigid and makes the cell overall more rigid

Sclerenchyma is a type of simple permanent tissue which is dead at maturity because it don't need to had living cells as it just had to provide structural and mechanical support to plant.
