why are sodium and potassium stored under kerosene???

Because if they kept open they can burn and if they kept in water they can react with water. So, they are kept in kerosene. Sodium and Potassium are the most reactive metals on this earth. They react very explosively with both water and air that is why they are stored in kerosene instead.

Sodium and potassium are kept immersed in kerosene because they are highly reactive metals and burns in open . So to be safe it is kept under kerosene.
