Why are sodium and potassium stored under kerosene Oil.

because when they come in contact with air they burst out

Sodium and potassium are highly reactive . So they are kept immersed in kerosene oil to prevent their reaction with oxygen , moisture and carbon dioxide of air to prevent accidental fires .
