Why are solid incomprehensible?

Strong forces of attraction keeps solids tightly together. Because the particles do not move, solids have a definite shape and volume. Solids do not 'flow' like fluids. Solids can not be easily compressed because the particles are already packed tightly together.

Gases are the most compressible because there are very large intermolecular spaces. Solids are the least compressible because the intermolecular spaces are very tiny, not enough to allow visible compression.
