Why are spores of ferns light in weight?

they are wind polinated plant so spore have to distribute through air current for which they need to light weight & feathery !!

Hi there,

Spores ferns are light in weight in order for their easy travel to different places to germinate... By having light spores, they can be easily varied away by the wind and hence they find a suitable place to grow even when it is far away from the mother plant.
