The extensive continental location of Pantanal is a huge floodplain. Pantanal recieves heavy rainfall during the summer season due to which the rivers overflow and the excess water goes into the lowland regions. A large number of swamps are formed in these regions because of the wetlands. Due to this Pantanals are also known as the biggest wetlands around the globe.
