Pruning is essential because :
It encourages the growth of new shoots with softer leaves.
Leaves can be picked easily.

the tea plants are never allow to grow lengthwise. this is done by cutting the apical buds, a process known as pruning.

In this way it plants get a dense growth and easy yield.
