he Himalayas affect the climate in various and amazing ways. It is popularly known to block the cold winds from Siberia and Central Asia from entering the Indian Subcontinent. It is also known to act as a barrier to the Monsoons and consequently bringing heavy rainfall in the Terai region of Himalayas and rendering the Tibetan side dry.
These are the more known climatic effects of the Himalayas. But there are others too. While speaking about climatic effects, instead of only seeing the role of Himalayas alone, we must look into the greater role of the eastern part of the Trans Eurasian mountain range. This includes the Hindu Kush, Pamirs, Karakorum Ranges, Himalayas and Tibetan Plateau.
