heya!
here is your answer..

the number of tertiary consumers like lion , tiger etc,, are always less than other consumers be ause of 2 reasons.

1. most of the tertiary consumers are on the verge of extinction nowadaysa.. when compared to other consumers..

2. if the tertiary comsumers will not be less.. then all the other animals may be extinct if they keep on eating them..

thus this arrangement is made to keep maintaining the balance..

The numbers of tertiary consumer always less than those of other consumers because of this inefficiency, only a few top-level consumers have enough food.

Organisms are placed in a linear sequence and they eat one another, to survive. Each organism holds a different level in a food chain. Each level of a food chain is considered as primary consumers, primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary consumers.

The animals are which belongs to a tertiary consumer eats primary consumers and secondary consumers to survive.

Tertiary consumers are either carnivorous or omnivores.
