The temperate grasslands of North America are known as the prairies. They are regions of flat, gently sloping or hilly land, with grass up to two metres high, and they're called 'seas of grass'.

Answer:

Because tall grass up to two meters high dominates the landscape due to continental type of climate where summers are hot and winters are cold.02-Feb-2017
