why are there a little vegetation in the desert

Some of the plant that are in the desert are cacti, small shrubs, and dryed up grass. The plants there need to save water for a hotter time. Many of these plants can only live in these conditions. These plants have a hard time survivinig when it rains to much. The plants here are very unique.
