Brazil is a country in the eastern part of South America that has the Atlantic ocean bordering it on the eastern side. The Amazon basin and the Tocantins-Araguaia basins are one of the biggest river ecosystems in the world that are present in Brazil.

There are 7 major rivers in Brazil and 5 coastal minor river basins. All these rivers and river basins mostly flow towards the eastern side. They arise from the Andes mountains on the western side of South America and flow towards the east to meet the Atlantic ocean.

Therefore, all the rivers in Brazil flow only towards the east into the Atlantic ocean as the Andes are present on the Western side.

Also, Amazon plains lying in the northern parts of Brazil generally slope eastwards. Besides, the source region of Paraguay slopes towards the south while the source region of Parana slopes towards the southwest.

Due to the presence of the brazilian highlands most of the roves drains to the atlantic ocean.

Explanation:

  • The country of brazil is located in South America and is located on the eastern side of the continent. Being the largest and biggest in terms of land area brazil has seven major and five minor river systems which flow mostly towards the easter side.
  • Due to the presence of Andes mountains and slope of land most of the rivers flows from the highlands to the east draining into the Atlantic ocean. As these highlands gradually decreased from the south to north and from west to east. Hence there are no west-flowing rivers.
