Why are there less wells and tube wells in desert region as compared to plain region?

because of the harsh climatic conditions they have sand which cannot absorb water so they cannot construct tube wells and less wells

Plain regions the soil is soft which allows the seepage of water underground . Hence well construction becomes easier and favourable.
But in desert areas the soil is impervious and nonporous which doesn't absorb water inside. Moreover due to a high temperature the water which is absorbed gets dried up and if wells are constructed there then they shall not have adequate amount of water for irrigation . Therefore These areas lack Wells and tube wells
