why are valves present between the auricles and ventricles of the heart

Hii..
Valves allows the blood to flow from auricles to ventricles depending on the stages of heart beat,they work as closing valves to prevent backflow when needed and open when condition is to pump blood..so in this way they act as opening or closing structures between auricles and ventricles..
