why are viruses an exception to cell theory ​

because they don't reproduce by themselves, the can not stimuli when touch or expose to light,they don't have any genetic material

(virus are consider as alive only when they are in living )

But cell theory states that "all living things are made up of cells that are fundamental unit of life"

so,virus is not made up of cells .but it is considered as living .therefore it is exception to cell theory.
