Why are we not able to see immediately after we enter a darkened hall?

This is because our eyes contains a component called pupil.. This pupil becomes smaller in circumference when exposed to a bright light and becomes bigger in radius when there is a dim or dark light ......... When we r outside due to the bright light of the sun our pupil becomes smaller in size and when we enter a dark hall it expands slowly according to the light .. After some time ⌚ we r able to see properly
