why are white blood corpuscles called soldier of the body

When blood is spun in a centrifuge, it’s about 40% packed red blood cells and the rest is mostly plasma, or the liquid part. There’s a very small part that consists of white blood cells and platelets, that appears white and it’s called the “buffy coat” layer. When bunched together in clumps in body fluids, white blood cells do appear somewhat white without stain.
