Why are wires made of metals like aluminium and copper and not of carbon or sulphur?

Metals such as Al,Cu are good conductors of electricity due to the presence of free electrons in them. On the other hand, non metals such as C,S do not possess such free electrons, and hence do not conduct electricity. Thus, Al, cu are used in manufacturing wires
