Why are X-ray not diffracted by diffraction grating or thin film?

This is because for diffraction to take place the grating element must be equal to or less than the wavelength of the wave.

               The grating element of plane transmission grating is about 4000000 times greater than the wavelength of X-rays so it is not diffracted by diffraction grating or thin film ......
