Why arteries have thicker walls than veins ?

because the blood flows in arteries with high pressure.

Arteries are the vessels which carries blood away from the heart❤ to various organs of the body. The blood emerges from the heart❤ under high pressure. So the Arteries have thick and elastic walls.

Veins collect blood from different organs and bring it back to heart❤. They don't need thick walls because the blood is no longer under pressure. They have valves that ensure that the blood flows only in one direction.
