The astronauts do not take extra oxygen up with them, on the Soyuz.  It is brought up on cargo vehicles, such as the Progress.  The Progress can bring Oxygen, Nitrogen, and/or air tanks that can supply air into the Russian Segment.  The US has external Oxygen tanks, outside the airlock.  They can pump oxygen into the vehicle.

The US has equipment called OGS (Oxygen Generating System) and the Russians have equipment called Elektron.  They both use electrolysis to separate waste water into oxygen and hydrogen.  The oxygen is used to replenish the atmosphere and the hydrogen is vented.  Both have been problematic pieces of equipment, and so do not meet all their needs.

To clean existing air, the US has CDRA and the RS has Vozdukh.  They both scrub carbon dioxide from the air.

Each astronaut uses about 1 kg of oxygen, each day.  So, for a 6 month stay, that would be about 180 kg.  Ideally that oxygen is provided by the on-board equipment and use of up-mass is minimized.
