The atmosphere has five concentric layers. They are troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere. The lower part of the stratosphere has a concentration of ozone, which absorbs the ultraviolet radiation of the sun and does not allow the harmful ultraviolet rays to reach the earth's surface.
The atmosphere acts like a greenhouse and controls the extremes of temperature. It softens the glare of the sun's glare during daytime.
