why atomic mass of argon is40 and potassium is 39

argon is noble guess it has stable electronic configuration it doesn't react with any metal or nonmetal but Potassium is an metal so the difference between their atomic mass unit is one unit

priyu4869: The mass given on the periodic table is the weighted average of the abundance of isotopes. Because heavier isotopes (more neutrons) of argon are more abundant than potassium's, by pure statistics, argon will appear with a greater mass on the periodic table.
