BeCl2 reacts with moisture present in the atmosphere to give HCl gas. When BeCl2 react with water vapours present in the air, Hydrochloride gas is evolved. This evolution of Hydrochloride gas appears as fumes. Thus we can say BeCl2 fumes in air.
