Calcium is not used in laboratory preparation of hydrogen as calcium has a very uncontrollable reaction with dilute H2SO4 or dilute HCl.

hydrogen is an element and definition of element says that it consist of one type of atoms hence elements are pure substance therefore hydrogen consist only atoms of hydrogen not of calcium and if calcium is composed of hydrogen they will form compound
