Why can modern democracy is not live without political parties?

Democratic government is a system of government in which the ruler is elected by the people.The rulers are contesting election by standing for political party.As India has multiparty so the role of political parties grew.So the country which is democratic must has political parties otherwise it is termed as monarchy or dictatorship.Therfore it is told that modern democracy is not live without political parties.
