How can you say only one sperm cell reaches the Fallopian tube, instead how can only one sperm reaches near the egg to find its way. Any how being a doctor let me explain::- The sperms ( around 14 millions) deposited in vagina and the womb faces the quite hostile environment. The sperms immediately begin swimming and some (a few) will find their way into the cervix. The sperm then begin their long journey towards the egg.Leaving the cervix, they enter the womb. Here they swim towards the Fallopian Tube.Once the sperms (around 20 ) reaches the Fallopian Tube, they are mainly free from the potential negative effects of the female's immune system. Only one out of them finally near the egg and push towards it's shell called Zona pellucida. Many sperm will blind to this shell,But only one sperm will be allowed to go all the way through the reach the egg inside.
