The Indian constitution had endowed our president to appoint quite a number of important governmental positions, which include -

* Prime minister of India.

* Governors of state.

* Judges of the supreme court and the stately high courts.

* Important officers of union government, like - Attorney-General of India, the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India, the Chairman of the Finance Commission.

* The Election Commissioners

*
Chief Commissioners and Lieutenant Governors of area under the central government.

However, it must be kept in mind that the president's powers are mostly ceremonial.
The real power of execution rests with the publicly elected body of the government,which takes the actual decisions, but in the name of the president.
