Why can’t an astronaut on a spacewalk simply wear a scuba mask to give him air? Why must he have that bulky suit?

Scuba mask is designed to tackle high pressure around the diver. If it wasn't designed in that way the diver would be crushed due to high pressure. But in space there exists little or no pressure, so there is a chance of bursting out. Bulky space suits are designed to apply pressure on you to compensate for pressure differences.
