There are four Types of memories which we want to forget

Where you feel “ I am at Fault” and this generates Guilt and Regret

Where you feel “He /She / They are at fault” and this generates Anger

Where you feel “That must not have happened” which generates Sadness

Where you fell “Why did this happen to ME?” which generates Self-Pity

So we have the emotional fruits of our past….

That is a deadly concoction of negativity that can hold you back from being happy and looking ahead

How do we overcome these? Let us look at it one by one…

Guilt and Regret

The first step is to accept the past errors or judgements as what they are. The past. Haven't they helped you grow as an individual? Taking accountability for past actions means that you have learnt from the actions and that learning will help you be better now and in the future.

Second is to accept yourself as a person. Carry no guilt or regrets. All experiences of the past have shaped you to be a better human being now compared to then.

Anger

The only solution to anger is to confront and forgive. If you feel someone has hurt you, communicate the hurt to them. Just communicate. Don’t expect anything from them…not even an apology. Then you must forgive them. Only then can you truly move on from the past and focus on your present.

Anger is a great deterrent too real progress in life. In arises at the most inopportune moment which can create real issues in life.

Sadness

Sadness can be overcome by hope. Life will provide great opportunities. It is up to us to build our competencies so that the opportunity can turn into fruitful endeavour. If you look within yourself, you will discover many things that will help you regain the confidence that you need to go ahead

Self-pity

Self Confidence is the anecdote to self-pity. Self-pity is the most worthless amongst all emotions and must be eliminated as early as possible. If we start believing in our victim complex, then there will be no end to our problems in life. The understanding of one’s potential will help us move on to greater passions in life which will inspire us to move on and move ahead…

According to me I think that's because we can't move on from certain things that we wanted or trusted a lot.You have to discover yourself , what you like , what you don't, and who to be with.Just sit in a room alone and think about certain things that you are stuck up with.Even if you cry it's okay , just let it all out.You also have to understand that there are many people with much more bad things happening to them. You have to thank God for what you have.If someone chose to not be with you ,well it's their loss.Be happy.Always smile.Think optimistic
