Why can’t we just fill in the ozone hole with man-made ozone? First, let's clear up some common misconceptions.   1. The ozone layer is not a layer of ozone. It is a region of the atmosphere (about 30-50 km) in which ozone concentrations are a few orders of magnitude more than elsewhere. However, even in the ozone layer, ozone makes up less than 1% of the air. Just like the rest of the atmosphere, the composition of the ozone layer is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% other. The amount of ozone in that 1% other is many times higher in the ozone layer than it is at the ground.   That doesn't make ozone unimportant; those "little" ppm-level concentrations go a long way to block harmful UV radiation (stratospheric ozone, that is, ozone in the ozone layer), or make breathing uncomfortable (tropospheric ozone, near the ground, is considered a pollutant).   2. The ozone hole is not a hole in the ozone layer. It is a roughly circular region of the ozone layer above the South Pole in which ozone concentrations are significantly less than ozone-layer ozone concentrations at lower latitudes, but still higher than ozone concentrations at the ground.   Since the Montreal Protocols curbed emissions of chlorofluorocarbons and other compounds that attack ozone, the ozone hole will naturally refill with ozone, albeit at a slow pace. It's expected to fully recover by the time our grandchildren are adults. I don't actually know the answer to whether any viable geoengineering solutions have been proposed to speed this up (EDIT: but see 's answer, and the comments below, to understand why we would not expect adding manmade ozone to the layer to help).

first of all .

ozone layer is 50 km . above from earth surface. so it will automatically refill noone can't refill it .

thnx for asking such question.
