We can't see our shadow on a dark moonless night because there is no light from the moon. Since there is no light, shadow is not formed.

No source of  light is there,so no shadow is formed

Explanation:

A shadow is said to be created when a opaque object comes in the path of the light.

As stated in the question the night is moonless ,so no light is  there is no source of light , there is nothing to be blocked and so no shadow formed.but if you stand in moon light on a night there will be a faint shadow will be  formed.
