Why can you not use an elastic measuring tape to measure distance?What problems you may face if you use it?

an elastic measuring tape may stretch or contract
thus it could make the measurement wrong

An elastic measuring tape isstretchable. It cannot be used tomeasure distances because the length of the tape may change on stretching. As a result, the measured length would not be correct.
