we can't measure heat by touching because
1) if the object is too much hot then it can harm our hands
2) we cannot make any exact conclusion on how much the heat is
3) if we need to know the exact calorific value then our hands are useless for finding it...

that may seem trivial , but the problem is that your body is constantly criculating you r blood into your flesh which means that,if you touch some thing with a low thermal conductivity the temperature of your own blood will tend to overwhelm the temperature flow from the object making it impossible ....
