Why cannot we use water for the fire at petrol pump? What type of temporary arrangements are available there

Petrol is much lighter than water. When water is sprinkled on fire caused by petrol the petrol floats on water and continues to burn. Fire extinguisher can be used to put off the fire.

because the fire at petrol pump consist one or more petroleum products and if we use water then they float upon water , so the fire continues to burn.at petrol pump we use fire extinguisher or some sand .
