The minimum distance at which the objects can be seen most distinctly without any strain is known as least
distance of distinct vision.
At distance less than 25 cm, the ciliary muscles cannot bulge the eye lens any more and the object cannot be focused on the retina and the image formed is blurred.

One of the most common reasons for blurred and indistinct vision is fogging of the eye lens.
Eye lens turns cloudy and opaque , failing to perceive and refract light successfully.
Most commonly this problem is faced by old aged people under the name CATARACT.
There are many reasons behind the fogging of lens. Some of them are:
1. swelling, thickening, and whitening of the lens fibers.
2. Low vitamin C intake
3. chromosome abnormalities associated with cataracts aka genetics.
4. Many a times the cilliary muscles controlling the focus of eye lens become stiff and fail to work efficiently leading to either myopia or hypermetropia or both.
