Hi frnds!!!

Carbon always forms covalent bond.It has four valence electrons. It can either gain or lose electrons. But if it loses it will have 2 electrons in valence shell and so it becomes an electrical Imbalance.

If it gains four electrons the protons will not be able to hold 10 electrons and so it becomes an electrical Imbalance.

So,to escape this problem carbon shares it four valence electrons forming covalent bonds.

Hope this answer helped you!
