Why carbon does not form ionic compound ????

because it has tetra valency.... in that situation it can neither give or take 4 electrons to attain octate state.....

therefore it shares its electrons thus forming covalent bond....!!

Ques. → Why doesn't carbon form ionic compounds ?

Ans.→ Firstly let's know that what's an ionic compound :

 <b> Ionic Compounds :- </b> these are the compounds that are formed by either gaining or losing electrons !

→ Carbon has a valency of four . Thus , it can neither gain 4 electrons nor loose 4 electrons . Therefore , it doesn't form ionic bond. Instead it forms a  <b> Covalent Bond </b> that is formed by the sharing of electrons !!
