In humans growth takes place internally but animals of phylum arthropods shed their skin ie ecdysis or moults as the outerskin restricts their growth..
It even takes place in snakes..

Hope this helps u!!!

Caterpillars need to shed their skin when they grow bigger but we humans do not because, of the difference in the nature of their skeleton structure.

Explanation:

In case of caterpillar, it has exo skeleton which is merely composed of thick layer of sugar called chitin. The chitin layer is made up of dead cells and it doesn’t grow along with the insect. Thus it becomes tight and in order to fit the increased size of the body, the caterpillar sheds its skin and forms new layer of chitin which is bigger when compared to the shed one.

On the other hand humans have endo skeleton which is made up of live cells and they grow along with the body. Thus human don’t have to shed their skin.
