Cell can be defined as the functional unit or fundamental unit or basic building block of the body because, including the cellular respiration to excretion everything is carried out by the cells. If we think about our structure then we found skeleton, muscles, tissues, blood and glands by these materials different organs of our body are made up of. And these particular tissues are made of cells that is also particularly of one kind varies with region to region. Glands are also made up of particularly one kind of cells, even the muscles too, again the bones are mainly composed of osteocytes cells, the nerves are made up of nerve cells or neurons again the blood is made up of red blood cells, white blood cells and plasma. So, it is proved that our whole system is made up of cells only and while one part of the body is functioning then it is the combined functioning of a group of ells at the same time. More particularly, if we want to prove that cell is the functional unit of the body then we have to study about the function of the part of the cells such that, the outer layer of the cell, cytoplasm or the plasma membrane, present in the cytoplasm, with minute pores allowing the water and several minerals to enter inside the cells, the mitochondria, the most fundamental part the cell as well as the powerhouse of the cell, stores the energy from the broken glucose, it contains the DNA and the genes too. The chromosomes contains the chromatin fiber, while it grows denser then it divides into two parts, known as cell division, the endoplasmic reticulum is involved in the transportation of fats and minerals. The golgi apparatus is responsible for the synthesis and secretion of enzymes and several hormones. The lysosome is responsible for intercellular digestion and often destroys the foreign substances, while the nucleolus stores the RNA.
